SECURITY TIPS:
As with any major city, safety measures should be followed. Always keep your travel documents, traveler’s checks, cash, and other valuables with you at all times if a safety deposit box is not available at your hotel or inn. Although Uganda is very safe, we advise not walking at night; instead, hire a cab if you must. We cannot vouch for your security.
CURRENCY.
The Uganda shilling is used as the currency. Although the US dollar has historically been the preferred hard currency, the Euro and the British pound are also extensively used. In many major cities, banks and private Forex offices offer the ability to exchange hard currency for local currency. Outside of Kampala, travelers’ checks are not commonly accepted.
When to Visit:
Uganda may be visited at any time of year and enjoys a beautiful climate. The daytime temperature ranges from 21 to 30 degrees Celsius, while the nighttime temperature ranges from 16 to 20 degrees Celsius. The hottest months are December through January, whereas March through May and mid-September through November are the wettest and coldest. The rainy seasons, which typically peak from mid-September to November and March to May, make it more difficult to engage in activities like mountain treks, gorilla trekking trips that require tracking down steep slopes with dense vegetation and undergrowth, and other forest walks.
WHAT TO BRING
Passports and visa requirements must be confirmed prior to travel with the customers and immigration at the airport. Uganda requires all visitors to have valid passports. You can get the most out of game reserve and national park excursions and wildlife drives by using binoculars and tour guides. Photographers who want to capture beautiful wildlife and scenery should use a zoom lens (70-300 or similar). In Kampala, there are facilities for printing and developing film. Any of the numerous supermarkets and shopping centers in the cities can be used to acquire toiletries and other necessities.
WHAT TO WEAR
Bring enough of light clothing because, depending on the country, daytime temperatures are typically warm. Bring some light sweaters as well because evening temperatures tend to be cooler, especially at high elevations. It is advisable to pack appropriately for the alpine temperatures if you plan to hike or climb mountains. For woodland walks, game drives, and tours of national parks, you should pack sturdy walking shoes, stromg clothes, a sun hat, sunglasses, and waterproof outerwear.
DRIVING
Driving in Uganda is done on the left side, thus travelers who want to drive themselves should be aware of this. Despite the fact that fuel prices are somewhat high, the city is home to many vehicle rental companies offering affordable rates. Taking into account that Uganda is a landlocked nation. You are encouraged to make arrangements for a car hire Noworks Tours and Travel Ltd along with a driver if you plan to travel to Africa.
TIPPING:
Although it is not a custom that is frequently followed in the neighborhood hotels, taverns, and restaurants, tipping is always appreciated. The amount is up to the tourists’ discretion, although drivers and tour guides should always be given a gratuity.
