Take a break for lunch in Mbarara Town along the way, and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the habitat of Mountain Gorillas.
Bwindi is renowned for its population of mountain gorillas, with an estimated half of the world's surviving population residing within its borders—approximately 400 gorillas. The remaining gorillas are found in the Virunga Forests, shared by Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The drive, though lengthy, is enjoyable. Journey south to Bwindi Forest, taking in the picturesque terraced hills of Kigezi Highlands, once known as the Switzerland of Africa. Arrival at Bwindi in the late afternoon will be followed by dinner, check-in, and an overnight stay as you prepare for the upcoming day's event.

Day 2
Gorilla Tracking Bwindi
In the morning, following breakfast and with a packed lunch in hand, you will be transported to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla tracking by your guide. Guides will be assigned to accompany you on the gorilla tracking adventure. After the briefing, you'll set off to commence your journey. The duration of the trek can vary from 1 to 8 hours, depending on the movement of these gentle giants and the terrain. The thrill of encountering them face-to-face outweighs the sometimes long and challenging trek. Each encounter is unique, offering rewards such as close-up views of adults feeding, grooming, and resting, while the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful manner.
After the tracking experience, you will walk back to your lodge for an overnight stay.
For the trek, it is advisable to wear long pants, like jeans, sturdy shoes suitable for hiking steep and slippery slopes, and long-sleeved shirts or blouses to protect your body from thorns and itching plants. Considering the possibility of rain, a raincoat is essential to protect yourself and any equipment you carry, such as cameras. Additionally, it's recommended to bring insect repellent and sun cream for added comfort during the trek.
