This three days school trip will have students exploring the most relevant study sites in the
western part of the country taking Kasese and fort portal as the major study and tourist center.
Student will visit and tour kilembe mines, Hima cement, sempaya hot springs and fortpotal
city.

DETAILED ITINERARY
This trip to western Uganda will start early morning after the students ‘early breakfast at school.
The students will have a morning assembly, and briefing about the trip, the expected code of
conduct, disciplines and behaviors. The tour guide will highlight the following regulations:
No student is expected to move away from the general team
All students should pay attention to instructions passed on while on the trip
Students are required to keep discipline and order while on the trip.
No any form of immorality or hooliganism and vandalism shall be accepted while on the
trip.

Itineraries
Day 1
DEPARTURE FROM SCHOOL
The students shall set off from school, early morning and with no major stopover head to Fort
portal via Hoima road. We shall stopover at fort portal city for lunch and then head straight to
kilembe mines for our first study encounter.
Day 1
KILEMBE MINES
Is Uganda’s largest copper and cobalt Mines, whose objective is to extract copper from
underneath Rwenzori Mountains in kasese Students will study more about the mining and
processing of the metals, copper and cobalt and assumed to employ more than 500 full time
workers.
Students will enjoy the cool atmosphere as well as see scrap remains of the tractors, trails an
machines that were previously used in the mining and processing of the metals. Later that
evening, students will check in their accommodation, have dinner and over night stay.
Day 2
HIMA CEMENT FACTORY
Students will get up early the following morning, and prepare then selves, we shall check out the
accommodation. And head to fort port. we shall have breakfast at a reserved restaurant or
packed breakfast and then head to Hima cement factory.
Hima employs about 360 permanent employees and 200 contractors in Kasese, while about 25
employees work at the head office in Kampala and about 40 employees are based at the depots
in Tooro and Kampala Good shed. On the Rwenzori Project is a team known as the Operation
preparation team comprising of 90 employees.
The company also engages a large number of contractors on various fronts such as
transportation, maintenance, and security provision among others. It is important that students
visit the factory, so that they learn more about the production and manufacturing of cement from
limestone.
The entire production process is brought to live for the students and they will understand in
depth the production and packaging, distribution, and marketing elements of a production
business. We shall then head to ssempaya ho springs in fort portal that afternoon.
Day 2
SSEMPAYA HOTSPRINGS
These are the most outstanding attractions in semiliki national park. Students will vividly see
the spring of geothermal heated water that rises from the earth’s crust to the surface of the earth
through the firm rocks.
The students will appreciate that hot springs are warmer than the surroundings, warmer than
human body, warmer than the ambient ground temperature. Some parts of the hot springs are
safe for swimming and bathing, while others contain water hot enough to boil eggs and matooke
In the afternoon students will check in their accommodation, where they will have dinner, relax
and overnight stay.
Day 3
DEPARTURE FOR SCHOOL
After breakfast that morning, students will check out the accommodation and head to fort portal
city. We shall have a smooth drive through Fort portal city, and stop over the royal palace for
some adventure, and then head right to school. Students should look for the vegetation and
the impressive landscape as well as numerous economic activities of the beautiful town. We
shall be dropped off at school and that will mark the end of our 3 days school trip to west.
