This three days school trip will have students exploring the most relevant study sites in the
western part of the country taking Queen Elizabeth National park as the major study and tourist
center. Students will EQUATOR, LATO MILK FACTORY, and QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL
PARK in Kasese.

DETAILED ITINERARY
This trip to western Uganda will start early morning after the students ‘early breakfast at school.
The students will have a morning assembly, and briefing about the trip, the expected code of
conduct, disciplines and behaviors. The tour guide will highlight the following regulations:
No student is expected to move away from the general team
All students should pay attention to instructions passed on while on the trip
Students are required to keep discipline and order while on the trip.
No any form of immorality or hooliganism and vandalism shall be accepted while on the
trip.

Day 1
ACTIVITY 1: STOPOVER AT EQUATOR, KAYABWE
We will then drive to towards Masaka road for the amazing equator experience. When students
arrive at the equator, they will be applauded warmly by one of the guides who will explain to
them, how and why the equator truly crosses through there.
He will point out where the 00 latitude traverses, pointing out the southern and northern
hemisphere. With the help of the magnetic fields and the water used, he will show them that in
the northern pole the water will sink out through the hole in the clockwise angle, while in the
southern pole, the water will sink down the hole in a counterclockwise as caused by the
magnetic fields.
Students will take as many pictures as possible and enjoy as much music as possible; those
interested will have a chance to purchase souvenirs from the many attractive cultural shops
around this geographical site. We shall then continue on the journey to Mbarara and visit lato
milk factory.
ACTIVITY 2 ;
LATO MILK.
Pearl diaries limited, is a diary processing company located in Bihairwe, Mbarara district. The
company processes up to 500000 litres of milk per day. Using the latest milk processing
equipments, and ultra technology that strives to serve the society with various milk products
such as butter, oil, yoghurt, milk, ghee and many more
Students will learn more about the milk processing methods through packaging and till
distribution and dispatch and marketing.
After the tour around the factory, students will then dine for lunch at convenient place before
setting for Kasese.
ACTIVITY 3;
QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Students will continue on the journey towards western Uganda, watching out for the amazing
landscape consisting of endless savannah, large farms of the long horned Ankole cattle and
local people going about their daily business.
Students will reach the park in the afternoon. Check into their accommodation if time allows or
go straight for the afternoon boat cruise at the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga channel has one
of the largest collections of hippos in Africa.
The Kazinga bird sanctuary is a birders paradise with countless water, resident and migratory
birds. Students should prepare for a treat as they spot buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants and
hippos bathing by the water channel
Students should watch out for birds like pelicans, the Knob-billed Duck, African Jacana, yellow
wagtail, common stucco Herons, flamingos, kingfishers, saddle-billed stork and the famous
Shoebill Stork. Students will also catch sights of primates like red tailed monkeys, white and
black Colobus monkey, olive baboons and verve monkey.
Day 2
Game drive at Kasenyi.
Wake up very early, shower and take breakfast as they wait for the Guide/Driver to pick you up
and take you for the morning game drive at Kasenyi. Kasenyi is one of the best places to go for
a game drive while on a Uganda safari. The area is raised hence allowing them to have good
views of the vast savannah, the animals, Lake Katwe, Lake Edward and George.
Expect to see hyenas, leopards, buffaloes, mongooses, elephants, the Uganda Kob, lions,
warthogs, waterbucks and other types of antelopes.
As students enjoy the game drive, watch out for the African skimmer, black-ramped
buttonquails, black bee eater, the Chapin’s ycatcher, sh eagles, martial eagles, verreaux’s
eagle owls, the white tailed lark and Pink-backed pelicans. After completing the acti
vity, the
students will head for lunch and then embark on their journey back to Kampala, via fort portal
