DETAILED ITINERARY
This trip to Jinja will start early morning after the students’ breakfast at school. The students will
have a morning assembly, and briefing about the trip, the expected code of conduct, disciplines
and behaviors. The tour guide will highlight the following regulations:
No student is expected to move away from the general team
All students should pay attention to instructions passed on while on the trip
Students are required to keep discipline and order while on the trip.
No any form of immorality or hooliganism and vandalism shall be accepted while on the
trip.

Itineraries
ACTIVITY 1:
KASAKU TEA ESTATE
Kasaku tea estate is located in Buikwe and kawolo districts near Namagunga.it covers
1197meters, producing10000 metric tones of tea per annum. Be sure to come to life with the
various farming methods used including terracing; drip irrigation. Sprinklers irrigation,
propagation methods. Kasaku tea estate is a good site for Geographical studies mainly paper 2
Geography. students will proceed to Jinja with a stopover at Mabira forest for a brief nature
study.
ACTIVITY 2:
KAKIRA SUGAR FACTORY
Kakira sugar works is the leading sugar manufacturer in Uganda, located in Jinja district.
Students will have an opportunity to view various steps taken in sugar production from the
plantations, to sorting through crushing to the last step where the finished sugar is packaged
and taken out to the market. Students will see the power generating facility which generates
around 50 megawatts. Students will get to see the distillery part that produces 6000 litres of
ethanol that is used in hospitals countrywide.

LUNCH
Students will have lunch and relax and proceed to the source of the Nile.

SOURCE OF THE NILE
Uganda is the source of Rive Nile – the world’s longest river from where the Nile starts its 4000
mile journey to the Mediterranean Sea through to Sudan and Egypt.
The Nile starts its journey to Egypt from Lake Victoria in Jinja town. The students will enjoy a
boat cruise on the river Nile for 2 hours as they relax and learn more about the history and the
geographical nature of the river Nile and its tributaries. After the boat cruise, students will then
set off and be dropped off at the school.
