EQUATOR TOUR AND BAHAI TEMPLE
We shall start with the city tour, and in particular we shall start with the famous Bahai temple Uganda hosts the Baha’i temple of the Africa continent. Constructed in 1958, the Baha’i temple sits on a beautiful spot on top of Kikaya hill, 7km on the Gayaza road, in Kampala City. The magnificent dorm structure of the temple can be spotted several kilometers away from many parts of Kampala City, such as from Makerere, Ntinda, Bukoto, etc… The Baha’i temple and library are on a 22 acre piece of land which is lush with several species of trees, flowery plants, bushes, and beautifully tendered to lawns. This is one of the most beautiful and pristine green places in the bustling Kampala city. For those that love icons and nature the Bahai is one of the top places & things to see in Kampala.
The spot is abundant with a variety of colorful birds and some small creatures like squirrels. The Bahai temple and place is one of the top places to visit on a day Kampala tour to learn about the Bahai faith in Uganda, observe the nature, enjoy wonderful views over Kampala city and relax in an awe-inspiring and pollution free environment. It is also one of the birding pots in Kampala one can peacefully enjoy birding in the city without obstructions. Up to 50 species can be recorded within two hours of birding around the Bahai.
The early morning is best time to watch birds.
You will then drive to towards Masaka road for the amazing equator experience, with a stopover at Nsangi for snacks, here you will enjoy a variety of freshly grilled /roasted foods like meat, chicken locally known as MCHOMO, maize, cassava, and lot more. When you arrive at the equator, you will be applauded warmly by one of the guides who will explain to you, how and why the equator truly crosses through there.
He will point out where the 00 latitude traverses, pointing out the southern and northern hemisphere. With the help of the magnetic fields and the water used, he will show you that in the northern pole the water will sink out through the hole in the clockwise angle, while in the southern pole, the water will sink down the hole in a counterclockwise as caused by the magnetic fields.
You will take as many pictures as possible and enjoy as much music as possible; you will have a chance to purchase souvenirs from the many attractive shops around this geographical site. You will have late lunch at reserved restaurant and then head back to Kampala on your way back, you will see numerous roadside stalls which you may opt to stop by and purchase some vegetables, fruits, art craft and other goods.
This will mark the end of your equator experience in Uganda.
